STRAIGHT HAIR CHARACTERISTICS
Smooth, sleek, little to no bend
EVOLUTION OF STRAIGHT HAIR
It is believed that straight hair was not a physical trait found in the first human beings on our planet. Homo Sapiens originated on the African continent and it is likely that these early humans possessed the appropriate curly, springy hair texture and dark skin tone to allow for protection from the sun’s harsh rays that are prevalent in that part of our world. As people eventually migrated from this region to areas outside of their continent they are believed to have adapted to life in colder climates. Ultimately evolving to have lighter skin (allowing UV rays to penetrate the skin for the much needed vitamin D) and straighter hair that would grow longer and lay flatter against the head, neck and shoulders to help promote warmth. Pretty interesting right?

TOP 3 STYLING TIPS FOR STRAIGHT HAIR
1. Your roots need to be 100% dry to create long lasting volume. If you leave any amount of moisture in your hair (especially the root area) it acts as a wick and will end up ruining everything you’ve worked so hard to create.
2. Products are crucial. You need the right combination of volumizing and/or texturizing products to make any style last. Try using products with a soft hold and applying on towel dried or pre-dried hair. Avoid products with a lot of weight and shine.
3. Shampoo every 2 to 3 days and use hair powders if needed to absorb excess oil.
